Walking Tour with David Diaz from Downtown Raleigh Alliance

Post date: Jun 3, 2011 11:41:16 AM

Approximately 15 business and property owners, stakeholder reps, and neighbors joined David Diaz, President and CEO of downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA) for a walking tour of the Person Street business district. We met first at Krispy Kreme where we introduced ourselves, and David explained DRA’s mission to help improve the downtown climate for business through marketing and special services. One participant thanked David for reaching outside the downtown business improvement district to take a look at the Person Street business area with the idea of making recommendations on how the alliance might provide support. Everyone agreed that the process wouldn’t take place overnight but could become a goal that we could work toward.

We then walked along both sides Person Street and discussed each property, its current status and potential. A couple of additional property and business owners joined the group as we walked along. David noted suggestions and input from the group. All in all, it was a very productive exercise that left the group with a renewed sense of purpose and anticipation of the area’s potential.

David will make a short presentation detailing his recommendations at our next Person Street Partnership Meeting which will be Monday, June 6, 5-6:15 at the Urban Design Center.
