Just a reminder! I’m getting several emails from folks asking about recycling gift wrap and greeting cards. Those items are white paper products and can be recycled in your curbside recycling bin – NO FOIL or GLITTER, those belong in the trash. Ribbons and Styrofoam belong in the trash! We added the paperboard and cardboard boxes a couple of years ago – just make sure they are broken down and the corrugated boxes are in pieces less than 3’ x 3’. Larger flatten boxes can be taken to a recycling drop off center (see www.raleighnc.gov/dropoff or www.wakegov.com/recycling/residents/wrapup.htm). Christmas trees (live) go out to the curb on your regular yard waste collection day, not before, and must be FREE of any decorations, including tinsel since they are recycled in mulch.
New Year’s Day is coming up fast – along with the traditional trim your WAIST resolution, how about trimming your WASTE? Thanks and have a Happy New Year!
