And when it’s August, it’s time for the Annual Mordecai Neighborhood Ice Cream Social

The Social

This is a long standing tradition in Mordecai and a great way to meet your neighbors and welcome new residents to the Mordecai neighborhood. It’s a great event for the whole family.

This year it will be held at Mordecai Interpretive Center both inside the meeting room and outside on the porch. We'll serve Howling Cow ice cream and homemade lemonade!

The Backyard Cottage Information Event

As an added attraction at this year’s social, there will be a special display inside the meeting room about the Mordecai Backyard Cottage Project. We will have information about the project and neighbors will have a chance to ask questions and give their feedback about whether Mordecai wishes to become the City of Raleigh’s first pilot neighborhood for backyard cottages - - a trend that is regaining popularity all over the USA in other progressive towns like Raleigh. There is currently a motion for approval which will be voted on at the September Mordecai CAC meeting so here’s your chance to weigh in on the proposal!

The event will last one hour. We hope to see you on the 11th!
