IMPORTANT: Glascock Street Traffic Calming Design Review by City Council - - April 3, 2012 7pm

Post date: Mar 29, 2012 2:34:34 AM

Dear MCAC and Residents of Glascock Street between Wake Forest Road and Norris Street,

The Raleigh City Council has scheduled a public design review meeting for the 2010/2011 Traffic Calming Minor Projects and this section of Glascock Street is included in this list. These residents have already received a letter by mail.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in Room 201, Raleigh Municipal Building, 222 West Hargett Street, Raleigh, North Carolina. The meeting starts at 7:00 pm and this item will be heard as soon thereafter as it can be reached on the agenda. You are invited to attend the meeting and will be given an opportunity to speak if you so desire.

It is generally advised that City Council members like to see a good showing or representation of residents in support or against projects of this type in order to make an informed decision. Based on the public meetings held up to this point, residents from Glascock Street who have attended are in support of traffic calming which include four (4) "speed humps" that are proposed and have been marked on the street.

I plan to attend the meeting next week. I live on Glascock Street and am in support of the speed humps as marked but am also interested in hearing from any folks who have questions or concerns about the traffic calming process. Questions can aslo be directed to Thomas Fiorello with the City Public Works Department by phone at(919) 996-4066 or by e-mail at thomas.fiorello@raleighnc.gov .

I believe it is very important that we have a good showing of Glascock Street residents so if you can attend the meeting, let me know so I can get an idea of how many will be attending. We can all sit together and make a good showing. If you cannot attend, I encourage you to contact city council by sending an email of support to:citycouncilors@raleighnc.gov

Thanks,

Philip Bernard, MCAC Traffic Chair
